San Gabriel Bighorn Sheep Survey Feb 25th-26th, 2017

Results!

The weather was challenging again this year, with snow and a cloud ceiling at ~5,000 ft. hampering efforts to spot bighorn.

Volunteers were lucky enough to see bighorn sheep in two areas:

-11 sheep were observed in the South Fork of Lytle Creek, below the cloud level &

-10 sheep were observed in the South Fork of Big Rock Creek, where the partial rain-shadow allowed some visibility.

      & made two other observations:

-1 Unidentified sheep, Middle Fork Lytle Cr.

-1 Class IV ram viewed from Baldy Village

What should I bring to the survey?   GearList.pdf

Class II ram and younger ewe, South Fork Big Rock Creek
